Zoo

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park – Darjeeling’s Hidden Gem

The Most Scenic Zoo You’ll Ever See

When we reached the front gate of the Darjeeling Zoo, it looked so simple that we never expected the kind of beauty waiting inside. The moment we stepped in, it felt magical. Tall, green trees stood on both sides of the path, and a gentle mist floated in the air. We visited in July, so it was always lightly raining during the day—not heavy, just soft, pleasant drizzles that made everything feel fresh and peaceful. At night, the rain would get stronger, but during the day, it felt like nature was gently welcoming us. Walking through the zoo felt like stepping into a scene from a Jurassic Park movie—trees everywhere, wrapping us in greenery. As we explored, we came across many animals, a butterfly museum, and a variety of beautiful birds. But the most special moment was seeing the majestic Bengal tiger. If you ever visit Darjeeling, don’t miss this place. I truly believe if you skip the zoo, you’ll miss one of the most magical experiences of your life.

I’m not posting any photos of the zoo because some things are better felt in person. I want you to experience this magic for yourself. I’m only sharing a photo from our trip—not to show the zoo, but to share the feeling.
